At Fairborn Digital Academy, preparing students for graduation is just the beginning. We believe true success means helping every student feel confident, capable, and ready to step into their future on their own terms. That’s why we were proud to be one of four Greene County school programs chosen to participate in a new career readiness initiative made possible through the incredible collaboration of Greene CATS Public Transit, Ohio Means Jobs, Clothes That Work, and United Way of the Greater Dayton Area.

This partnership wasn’t about theory. It was about action.

Our students took part in a multi-part workshop experience designed to remove real-world barriers: transportation training, resume-building, interview coaching, and the chance to be professionally fitted with work attire on-site, thanks to the Clothes That Work Mobile Outreach Bus. For many, it was the first time seeing themselves through the lens of a professional with confidence in their reflection and a sense of momentum in their stride.

As Shannon Webster, Greene County Mobility Manager, put it:

“This initiative is about more than just clothes or job tips—it’s about removing barriers and building confidence for students stepping into their futures.”

We couldn’t agree more.

This hands-on support reflects everything we strive for at FDA. Many of our students are navigating non-traditional paths, balancing challenges that go far beyond the classroom. These workshops recognized that reality and met students where they are, with tools to move forward.

By the numbers:

  • 58 students received Travel Training and transportation resources

  • 35 completed resume, interview, and “power skills” training

  • 22 received personalized interview outfits and wardrobe vouchers

But more than the numbers, it’s about how students felt. Seen. Supported. Empowered.

This is what happens when community partners invest in students not just as learners, but as whole people capable of showing up, speaking up, and stepping into the next chapter of their lives with pride.

To everyone who helped make this experience possible, thank you. You’ve given our students more than a head start you’ve given them a hand up.
